Letter : Boston, to David Porter, Washington, 1822 July 27.

Hull writes asking Porter whether he should sue Francis W. Waldo (author of a scurrilous attack on Hull in the Boston "Galaxy") or the editors of the newspaper for printing it. Hull was busy defending himself against charges made by Lieut. Joel Abbot in his court martial - a trial which divided public opinion in Boston and Charlestown toward the commodore.
